Students in Indonesia

Psychometric career test for students in Indonesia

Choose subjects in Jakarta that keep the right doors open, in Indonesia or in India.

Indian families in Indonesia are spread across very different schools: Cambridge and IB international schools, a few that teach CBSE, and national-plus schools. In every one of them a fifteen-year-old has to choose subjects that decide what can be studied at eighteen.

Who this is for in Indonesia

Indonesia’s Indian community has two halves. Families of Tamil, Sindhi and Punjabi origin have lived in Medan and Jakarta for generations and are Indonesian citizens. Alongside them are expatriate professionals in textiles, mining, banking and technology, mostly in and around Jakarta, who expect to move again before their children finish school.

The decision

Which subjects to carry from Grade 10 onward, and whether university will be in Indonesia, India, Singapore or further away.

School systems, and where the assessment fits

Cambridge and IB schools
Most Indian expatriate children in Jakarta sit IGCSEs and then A-levels or the IB Diploma. Read the stream ranking as advice on subject groups: which sciences, whether to keep mathematics, and how much room to leave for economics or the humanities.
CBSE in Indonesia
Where a school offers CBSE, the Class 8–10 report describes exactly the choice in front of a Class 10 student, in the board’s own stream names.
Indonesian national schools
Indonesian senior high schools have moved between fixed IPA, IPS and Bahasa majors and free choice of elective subjects in recent years. Under either arrangement, the career matches show which subjects a chosen field needs.

Studying in Indonesia, or elsewhere

  • State universities in Indonesia admit through SNBP, on school record, and SNBT, a computer-based national test, plus each university’s independent route.
  • International-programme degrees taught in English are offered at several Indonesian universities and are the usual choice for students from international schools.
  • Singapore, Malaysia and Australia are the common third-country options from Jakarta.

If India is one of your options

  • Indian citizens who complete Classes 11 and 12 in Indonesia can use DASA for NITs and other centrally funded institutes, with a JEE Main rank.
  • Indonesian citizens of Indian origin apply as foreign nationals, directly to universities or through the Study in India portal, and can apply for ICCR scholarships through the Indian Embassy in Jakarta.
  • Jakarta is not among the overseas cities NTA has used for NEET-UG lately; Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are the nearest that have been.

What you get, wherever you study

You do not need to be planning on an Indian college to use this. The assessment looks at you, not at a syllabus or a country: what interests you, how you work, how you reason, and which careers and fields of study fit that. It is open to students of any nationality, and they use it to choose subjects and a direction for study in Indonesia or anywhere else.

What the report says about the student — interests, personality, reasoning and the careers that fit — applies in Jakarta as it does in Chennai. Its colleges, entrance exams and salary bands are Indian. For a family heading back to India that is the point; for a family staying, it is the career list that matters and not the college list.

Prices when paying from Indonesia

You pay the rupee price shown, with an Indonesian debit or credit card that is enabled for overseas online purchases; the bank converts from rupiah. Families with relatives in India often send them the report link to pay by UPI.

Questions from families in Indonesia

Does the assessment suit a student at an international school, not a CBSE one?
Yes. The questions are about interests, working style and reasoning, and none of them depend on a syllabus. Only the stream names in the Class 8–10 report are Indian, and they map onto IGCSE and IB subject groups.
Can it be taken in Bahasa Indonesia?
No, it is in English only, as is the report.

For schools. International and Indian-curriculum schools in Jakarta, Surabaya and Medan can register free and evaluate five full reports before offering the assessment to Grade 9 or 10.
