Career test

A free career test, in the version that fits your stage

Most career tests ask everyone the same questions. A fourteen-year-old choosing a stream and a thirty-five-year-old weighing a change of field are not facing the same decision, so this test comes in four versions, each with its own questions, scoring and report.

Which version is yours?

What a career test should measure

A useful career test looks at more than one thing, because a single measure misleads. Interest alone sends people towards work they like the idea of but are not suited to; ability alone sends them towards work they can do but will not enjoy. This test measures four things and keeps them separate in the report, so you can see where they agree and where they pull apart.

Interests, using the six RIASEC areas that career research has relied on for decades. Reasoning, through timed verbal, numerical and abstract questions with right answers. Working style, the personality traits that shape how you handle people, pressure and detail. And work values, what you want a job to give you, such as security, income, independence or the chance to help.

Each career in the database carries its own profile on the same four measures. Your result is the overlap, career by career, with the arithmetic shown, so a match is something you can check rather than take on trust.

Free, and what the free part includes

You can take the whole test without paying or creating an account, and see a first look at your results free. The paid report is optional. It adds every career ranked with its reasons, the education route and entrance exams for the leading matches, and a plan for the months ahead. If the first look already answers your question, you do not need it.

Set aside about 45 minutes somewhere quiet. Answers save as you go, so you can stop and return. The reasoning section is timed, and a result taken in a hurry or with help from someone else describes the hurry or the helper, not you.

Common questions

Is the career test really free?
Taking the test is free and needs no account. When you finish you get a first look at your results without paying. The full written report, with every career ranked and the reasoning behind each score, is a one-time payment, and you decide whether you want it after the first look.
How is this different from a quick career quiz?
A quiz asks a dozen questions and matches you to a type. This test takes about 45 minutes because it measures four separate things, interests, reasoning, working style and what you want from work, and scores each against every career in the database. That is why it can explain a result rather than only announce it.
Which version should I take if I have just finished Class 12?
The Class 11–12 version, if you are still choosing a degree. If you have already started one, take the college version, which works from the degree you are in.
Can an adult take a career test?
Yes. The working-professional version was built for adults and reads experience, constraints such as savings and study time, and how you handle real work situations. It does not use the school questions.
Does a career test tell me what to become?
No test should. It ranks careers by how well they fit what it measured, explains each ranking, and leaves the decision with you. A career it ranks low stays on the list with the reason shown.

Only have two minutes? Try the free career quiz, which looks at interests alone. Want to see the finished product first? Read a complete sample report for each of the four versions, or see how the test is built and scored.
