What we set out to build

Career guidance in India tends to arrive in one of two forms: a free quiz that tells you almost nothing, or a package costing several thousand rupees that most families cannot justify. We wanted a third option — a full assessment and a complete report, at a price a student can pay without a family discussion about whether it is worth it.

The design constraint we set ourselves is that the report has to answer the questions a first counselling session would otherwise be spent on, without a person present. That is what decides what gets built.

Why the report shows its arithmetic

Every recommendation carries the numbers that produced it — which of your scores drove it and how heavily each counted. This is not a presentation choice. If the engine cannot explain a recommendation numerically, it does not surface it at all, and that rule is enforced in code. An instrument that hands down conclusions without showing the working is asking a family to take a significant decision on trust alone.
