After Class 10
Science with Biology (PCB)
What this stream opens, and — the part that is usually left out — what it closes. Both lists matter, and the second one is the reason to read carefully.
Before the lists
Taking Mathematics alongside PCB keeps both the medical and the engineering routes open. It is a heavier load; it is worth it only if the student genuinely has both interests, not as insurance.
What it keeps open
- MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BVSc and Nursing via NEET-UG
- Allied health — Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Radiology, Optometry, Nutrition
- Life sciences — Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Zoology, Botany
- Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, Veterinary Science
- Psychology at universities that accept any stream
- Every course open to Arts and Commerce students as well — Law, Design, Management, Mass Communication, Hotel Management, Liberal Arts, BCA, Social Work
What it closes off
- Engineering and Architecture, unless Mathematics is carried as an additional subject
- Most Pure Mathematics, Statistics and quantitative-finance degrees
- NDA Air Force and Navy entry, which requires Physics and Mathematics
Closed by the direct route, not permanently. Most of these can be reopened through a bridging qualification, an additional subject, or an open-school Class 12 — it costs time rather than being impossible.
The Mathematics myth
Dropping Mathematics after Class 10 closes most career doors.
It does not. Law, Design, Management, Mass Communication, Hotel Management, Liberal Arts, BCA, Social Work, Psychology, Journalism, Civil Services and most Commerce routes stay fully open without Class 12 Mathematics.
What dropping Class 12 Mathematics actually closes:
- · Engineering and Architecture
- · Most Pure Science degrees, including Physics, Mathematics and Statistics
- · Economics Honours at several universities, including Delhi University
- · Actuarial science, quantitative finance and most data-science degree routes
- · NDA entry to the Air Force and Navy
Open from any stream
These do not care which stream you took. Worth knowing before anybody tells you a door has closed.

Which stream actually suits you?
This page describes the stream. It cannot tell you whether it fits — that depends on your interests and how you reason. The assessment ranks all five for you, with the numbers behind each, and never hands you one as a verdict.
The other streams
This is a career-guidance instrument. It is not a clinical or diagnostic tool. It does not measure intelligence, IQ, or a person’s worth. Its results are one input among several, and are intended to be interpreted with a trained counsellor.
